India Hemostat (also known as hemostatic clamp or arterial forceps) is a surgical tool used in many surgical procedures to control bleeding. The difference between hemostat and forceps is that hemostat is an instrument that clamps blood vessels to diminish or halt blood flow whereas forceps is an instrument used in surgery to grasp objects. The naming of each hemostat is based on the jaw configuration and the distal tip design. Hemostats have three functions in surgery, such as they are used to clamp blood vessels during a surgical procedure to control bleeding, used to grasp and secure tissue and superficial fascia during a surgery, and are excellent tools for exposing, exploring, and visualizing the deeper areas of a surgical site.

A surgical hemostat is a tool used to hold or clamp a small item while performing surgery. This tool is useful for tight and hard-to-reach areas. Its small, ridged tip allows the piercer to grasp and hold the body tissues with ease. A tool has multiple locking positions to prevent accidental release. The India Hemostat has multiple uses, from manufacturing to assembly and repair. There are two primary types of surgical hemostats; curved and straight. Curved hemostats are ideal for controlling bleeding. These instruments feature a hinged design that allows doctors to hold the object tightly and comfortably. They are used to grasp and hold the tissue in place and control blood flow. One-time-use hemostats are also available.

Hemostats are used intraoperatively or postoperatively. They are a surgical tool that holds veins and tissue out of the way of the surgeon's fingers. It can control bleeding and allow the surgeon to work under organs without compromising their vision. India Hemostat unique design locks onto blood vessels, controlling bleeding, while allowing the surgeon to see the work area. It is also used to control blood coagulation status. They are available in both stainless steel and plastic. Stainless steel hemostats are made from high-carbon steel and can withstand many sterilization processes without failure. Moreover, hemostats can be classified into locking and non-locking styles. Locking hemostatic forceps/clamps are used to securely hold tissue. When they are used to control blood flow, they are called hemostats. India Hemostat is typically used to compress blood vessels or other tubular structures to obstruct the flow of blood or fluids. The non-locking type of surgical hemostat is used for picking things up while in surgery as well as for holding things for a short time. They are available in various sizes, materials, and compositions and are used in surgeries and trauma cases, where there is excessive blood flow and loss. Hemostat powders, strips, sponge, gauzes, and films are some of the hemostat products.

Thus, with the rise in prevalence of blood disorders and increasing number surgical procedures in India, the demand for hemostats is also increasing with a rapid pace in this region. According to GLOBOCAN, nearly 25,000 children diagnosed with cancer in India every year and around 9000 of these have leukemia (blood disorder).
